Health and environmental effects of nuclear weapons testing and production

Summary:
Testing of nuclear weapons has been horrible to the human body and our health. Many countries such as china, france, india, pakistan, russia, the U.S, and the U.K have been testing both above and below ground. This is a huge problem because of how everyone wants to figure out this bombs capacity and have control over it. Testing could lead to over 2 million cancer fatalities alone, not counting the healths problems that could affect our bodies right away. Nuclear production is another matter that has to be stopped that leads to more nuclear weapon testing. Production of uranium and materials to make nuclear weapons is something many countries have been doing. Making the cituation even worse. The U.S is trying to stop this because of the amount of people who can die in thsi tragety.

Reflection:
I think that this is not a good thing of how many countries are trying to test nuclear weapons because they shouldn't even be able to exist because of the power it has. Many countries who have angry towards others will use those against others that could affect many people and not a weapon that a human being can handle. I feel that the bomb in general needs to be terminated and that people will come to the conclusion that it may destroy many or all of humans because of its over-powering affects.

Evidence:
"Of all the activities concerning nuclear weapons, testing has been the most destructive of human health and the environment." This quote shows what the capacity of a nuclear weapon has and how it could affect humans, life, and this worlds enviroment greatly if we don't stop this power.

Campaign for nuclear disarmament

Summary:
Nuclear weapons have been used only twice by the U.S. These two times it was on the same region, Japan. Many people are well aware of the affects of nuclear power and many countries are thriving for a peice of it. Humans beings can be affect by many different terms such as Instantaneous, Near-immediate , short term, and long term. These four terms explain nuclear power a lot better. Instantaneous explains how the bomb has a temptature of a million degrees and a mile long of land could be turned to almost ash. Near-immediate is where beyond the instantaneous is the blast or heat waves that the near-immediate brings that kills those people ouside the center. Then theres short term which are the survivors who are injured but are affected with radio-activity. Lastly theres long term where radiation will reduce cancer and make it hard for them to live much longer. Nuclear weapons have been a big tragety for the countries who have experienced it in the past and the only way to stop this power is to disarm this weapon that destroys many humans.

Reflection:
I feel that what this article said was true that this bomb kills many people in that city and that we cant have a nuclear war because it will just destroy our planet. We need disarmament before this tragety gets out of hand. This bomb is too powerful for man-kind to control because of so many leaders who want to rule. This cituation hopefully will get better in years to come so that noone will have to use a nuclear weapon and that we can disarm possible death to humans.

Evidence:
"Modern nuclear weapons generally have much greater explosive power than those first two bombs but the effects would only differ in scale." This quote explains how nuclear power is very over-powering and that its not the same thing has a normal bomb, its worse.

The facade of Nuclear Disarmament

Summary:
The UN security council passed the Us resolution to not allow nuclear weapons and make it so we are able to disarm them. Obama is not very different then The bush administration in nuclear disarmament. He supported the treaty draft but speaks to certain people to help his goal for a world without disarmament. Disarmament is a big issue and many countries have been threatened or threatening. Development of nuclear products in many countries is starting to worry the U.S and is a big problem to our world.

Reflection:
I think this issue in general is huge because of the capcity that this nuclear weapon has. Other countries shouldn't be trying to make this bomb to destroy. I know the people who lead this issue are trying to disarm bombs all over the world but maybe need to focus more on our enemy countries and their threats before other countries that wont have much affect on us.

Evidence:
"Of course, these ships can be moved easily from the Mediterranean to the Gulf or Indian Ocean so Pakistan would also come into this BMD target loop - again with India being helped in the development and acquisition of BMD as part of its strategic military alliance with the US." This quote shows the enemies/ alliances that US has but I feel needs to focus opn the countries with threats not just our alliances in this.

U.N. calls for nuclear disarmament, Obama presides

Summary:
This article is about envisaging a world without nuclear weapons. Iran and north korea which are the highest threats of atomic activity were not focused to put an end to them. Obama said that next year it would be critical to stop all nuclear weapons. There main goal was to achieve no nuclear weapons in the world and to disarm any that occur today.

Reflection:
I feel that this main matter that the U.S wants to get rid of nuclear weapons is great but if they dont get rid of all of them fast then some countries may use badly. I think that people such as obama are trying to help out the situation but i think need to start focusing on the countries who are the biggest threat.

Evidence:
"We will continue to keep our nuclear capabilities at the minimum level required for national security, and make efforts to advance the international disarmament process," Hu said. This quote shows that everyone doesnt want to end humanity with a huge nuclear war. Humans want to live peaceful and thats the reason most countries want to stop this threat.

Iran is continuing nuclear activity, says United Nations watchdog

Summary:
Iran is continuing it's uranium program that could later set the stage for creating high explosive bombs. The uranium enrichment plant has grown from a rapid 1000 to 8000 in the last two months. U.s is focused on iran's use of products such as how much oil they produce and uranium or other items to create a higher technology weapons. U.S plans to keep on track with iran to make sure they are holding back on rapid supply of products.
Reflection:
I thought that if iran gets a hold of the high tech weapons that the U.S produces today then a lot of tragic things may occur. I feel that lessening other countries ability to blow up the world is a great thing to control and hope we still have peace. The facts that the U.S is lowering products of specific countries like iran is a good thing to hear about espcially being in this time period.
Evidence:
"However, there are concerns among European and US officials that such measures, aimed at the heart of the Iranian economy, could rally the country around the leadership in the wake of President Ahmadinejad's disputed re-election, and are likely to break the fragile international consensus on dealing with Tehran." This quote shpws that even though people think everything might be alright and fine. Theres still a chance of an however that sparks everyones mind.

New Data Found On North Korea's Nuclear Capacity

Summary:
The united States found out that North Korea has been heavily active with nuclear activity. There has been uranium found from 18,000 pages of papers from north Korea. The information given about north Korea's current nuclear activity has been a hot-spot on the bush administrations priorities. North Korea has made plans to submit to their declaration that they have been waiting for. North Korea is purchasing a large number of aluminium tubes that can result in spinning hot uranium gas into fuel for nuclear weapons.  In conclusion the untied states have found many evidential facts that explain the nuclear activity that North Korea has carried.

Reflection:
My opinion to this matter is that I think the united states is doing a good job focusing on another region and their nuclear activity because of the possible threat towards certain countries. I feel nuclear activity shouldn't be just available because of the hate that some countries have on others.

Evidence:
This sentence in the article shows what is happening. It says " Sources said that traces of highly enriched uranium were found on the 18,000 pages of Yongbyon reactor records provided by North Korea to the united states last month. North Korea provided the documents, which date back to 1987, to help he bush administration verify the amount of plutonium it produced in the reactor." This quote shows the activity that is occurring in North Korea.
